SOOOO tired of wildlife....

So, I went to unload the dishwasher last night, and saw a flicker of movement down by my hand...literally. I couldn't figure out what it might be, until I bent down, and was eye to eye with a slim little green and yellow snake who was lying along the gap between the top of the unit and the countertop. First instinct, flight -- second instinct, grass snake...probably. I tried to get him out, but he slithered back into the darkness of the cubby. Unloading and reloading the dishwasher was a tense situation last night. And even running the darn thing didn't drive him from cover, so who knows when he will leave -- or how to tell if he is gone -- because the dishwasher is not trivial to move around. I will be on pins and needles in the kitchen until I see prove of his retreat or forget he was there...which might come first these addlepated days.

I love my mighty hunters, and I want them to have the freedom to come and go as they please. I just wish it didn't give license to the rest of the neighborhood!
